Wintering, a liminal space Spending time in the in-between. Lately, I’ve been sitting with the idea of what wintering really is. I keep circling back to it as a kind of liminal space, not to change or move, but to go within. To sit in the present, with one eye on what’s behind you and one on what’s ahead. In winter, we’re invited to hibernate into the moment, resting into what’s present rather than reaching for what comes next. Winter’s element is ether — not something that is, but something we move through, sensed more than seen, like vibration, like sound. On the solstice, I pulled the Six of Swords, and it offered a clear message that aligns with all of this. Traditionally, the Six of Swords is a card of crossing, a boat in motion, suspended between where it came from and where it hasn’t yet reached. In the card from @kim_krans’s deck, the swords are laying heavily at the bottom, the seeds, lessons, and what’s being carried, held in the quiet dark. The rain is still present. And yet there’s a rainbow, visible, but not something we’ve fully moved into yet. The transition has already happened. The days are getting longer. But there is still time needed.
